Rheumatology is a subspecialty in internal medicine that focuses on systemic autoimmune diseases. Autoimmune diseases happen when the body’s natural defense system can’t tell the difference between your own cells and foreign cells, causing the immune system to mistakenly attack structures of your body, like your joints or skin, instead of germs like bacteria and viruses. Through blood tests we can detect autoantibodies, inflammation, and organ involvement/damage. Autoimmune diseases are chronic in nature and can be seen in every age group. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment to avoid long-term damage from uncontrolled inflammation is essential.

Diagnostic Services

• History of present illness and physical exam
• Diagnostic blood work in our in house laboratory
• Musculoskeletal Ultrasoud/MSU
• Arthrocentesis (joint fluid aspiration and joint injections)

Treatment options

In case you were diagnosed with a rheumatologic disease, we will offer you a state-of-the-art individualized treatment plan. This may include DMARD (disease modifying anti-rheumatic agents) medications and/or treatment with newer biologic agents (monoclonal antibodies and JAK inhibitors). If needed, we have an in-office intravenous infusion site.
